This wonderful gallery of memories takes you back to Armley in the 1980s when row upon row of red brick terraced houses were being demolished. They included Fitzarthur Street, Fearnley Street, Gledhow Street and Simpson Street and with it the memories of the residents who once called the community home. The photo is one of 12 showcasing life around LS12 during the decade. Away from the bulldozer the gallery features memories of landmarks and pubs with the Barleycorn and the Malt Shovel in focus. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
