Captivating photos take you back to Chapel Allerton in the 1930s

Chapel Allerton in the 1930s is the focus of this wonderful trip down memory lane.

It was the decade the Dominion Cinema first opened its doors to movie goers. It would go to screen films for more than 30 years before becoming a bingo hall. This gallery of memories also features shops and well travelled streets as well as the Yorkshire Penny Bank. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
