Clue: ”Spend, spend, spend” Yes, that’s right, it was once the Garforth home of Viv Nicholson after her husband Keith won £152,319 on the football pools in 1961. Nicholson became the subject of tabloid news stories for many years because of the couple's subsequent rapid spending of their fortune. The photo is one of nine which come together to form a mini gallery of memories from around Garforth in the 1960s. The photos also feature local landmarks, well-travelled streets and schools in the heart of the community. The photos are a mix from the YEP archive, Garforth Historical Society, Leeds Museums Service and others published courtesy of West Yorkshire Archive Service, which collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the region dating from the 12th century to the present day - more than 800 years of local history.
