Halcyon photos take you back to Hunslet in the mid-1960s

This gallery showcases a year in the life of Hunslet in the mid-1960s and brings into focus the suburb's manufacturing heritage.

The wonderful gallery of memories focuses on 1965, a year in which lorries built in LS10 were being exported to South America. This collection also features a range of landmarks and streets which will be familiar to those who called Hunslet home back in the day. They include Northcote Terrace, Sturdy Street, Westwood Terrace, Lady Pit Lane and Northcote Road. The images are published courtesy of West Yorkshire Archive Service, which collects and looks after the unique documentary heritage of the region dating from the 12th century to the present day - more than 800 years of local history. It also runs Catablogue, an online blog dedicated to preserving the past, serving the present and protecting the future.
