Languid photos take you back to Leeds city centre in the late 1940s

These wonderful photos showcase life around Leeds city centre at the back end of the 1940s.

They turn back the clock to 1948 and bring into focus landmarks as well as well-travelled streets including Kirkgate, Regent Street, East Street and Leeds Bridge. The images are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
