These wonderful photos showcase a decade of shopping memories along a historic gem which forms a spine across Leeds city centre. They focus on life along The Headrow in the 1940s and feature a range of retail gems including Schofields department store along the half mile route which runs between Westgate and Eastgate. Other landmarks featured in this gallery of memories include The Three Legs pub and Odeon Cinema. The photos are published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
