Terrific photos take you back to Todmorden in the 1980s and 1990s

These photos put the terrific into Todmorden as they chart two decades in the life of the town.

They turn back the clock to the 1980s and 1990s and focus on the news stories making the news headlines during the 20 years as well as featuring local landmarks and familiar faces. The gallery starts with a thought-provoking photo - a walk through Summit Tunnel which connected Toddy to Littleborough in Lancashire. Rail enthusiasts and those who just enjoy doing something different flocked in their thousands in August 1985 for the unique opportunity. British Rail engineers claimed it was the first time that the public had been allowed to walk en- masse through a working tunnel. The photo is one of 14 plucked from the YEP archive celebrating life in the town.
