Wistful photos take you back to Woodhouse in the 1950s

These wonderful photos turn the spotlight on a decade in the life of Woodhouse.

They turn back the clock to the 1950s and bring into focus different aspects of life around LS2 from garages through to shops. Familiar streets are also in view with Woodhouse Street, Pennington Street, Holborn Terrace, Charing Cross Street, Blackman Lane and Blenheim Terrace all featured. The images are a mix from the YEP archive and others published courtesy of photographic archive Leodis, which is run by Leeds Library & Information Service. They also run heritage blog The Secret Library Leeds, which provides a behind the scenes look at the Central Library and highlights from its special collections, including rare books hidden away in the stacks.
