Delhi Wala Food’s celebration of Delhi's vibrant street food culture has earned it national recognition for tasty excellence.

Delhi Wala Food was named Indian Street Food of the Year at the Nation's Curry Awards 2026, making its third consecutive victory at the awards.

The much-loved restaurant at 88 Bishopgate Street is also in the running for an Oliver Award, which highlight Leeds’ outstanding hospitality sector highlights, for best street food.

“We are really proud of winning a Nation’s Curry Award for three years in a row as it shows we are consistently serving up delicious street food,” says chef and owner Nitin Sharma.

“We put a lot of care into making sure our food is freshly prepared and offers an explosion of flavours in every bite. So it is fantastic to have this recognised at a national level.”

A highlight of the Leeds lunch scene

Looking for something different at lunchtime? Delhi Wala Food brings a completely unique fusion of flavours to the Leeds lunchtime dining scene.

Think tasty and filling thalis, naan bread pizza or Indian-style burgers. Or why not try the tandoori pasta which blends the best of both countries’ cuisine.

“We are really proud to offer such good value lunches,” says Nitin. “All our dishes offer something completely different, but they are all around the £10 mark as we want to offer our customers the best value.”

For something varied and nutritious, Nitin says you can’t beat a thali: it's a hearty meal that includes the day's fresh curry (which can be meat or vegetarian), a second vegetable curry, dhal, rice, bread, salad, rice, poppadom – and even a dessert to finish.

The chicken tikka naan pizza is a confirmed crowd-pleaser, with a warm nanna topped with spicy chicken chunks, melted cheese and a tangy sauce; there's also a vegetarian paneer version.

Keen to take your tastebuds in a different direction? There's also an Indo-Chinese combo - check out the crispy chilli chicken in a spicy-sweet sauce which is served with honey-chilli potatoes and rice.

Or you can't miss the samosa burger, a fusion of crunchy spiced veg in a soft brioche bun, complete with tangy chutney and salad.

Fuelling Leeds’ vegan population

Few restaurants offer a vegan menu as comprehensive as Delhi Wala Food’s – and its online reviews reflect the effort that the chefs put into preparing mouth-watering meat-free options.

“We have a growing vegan community in the city who know good food and want to have choice. That is why we are keen to make sure that our vegan menu is extensive, not an afterthought,” explains Nitin.

“I think most dedicated vegan restaurants don’t offer as much as we do. We are really popular with vegans or those wanting to eat vegan meals, as all our vegan food is freshly made – there isn’t anything processed and it’s all really healthy. You won’t find any fake chicken on the menu here!”

The full vegan menu covers everything from buttery vegan flatbreads, street food classics like samosas and potato patties, and appetisers to delicious tofu or jackfruit curries. The tofu is freshly made; lentils and chickpeas also offer a tasty alternative to meat.

Vegan desserts can be a tricky thing to get right, but at Delhi Wala Food you can choose vegan chocolate fudge cake or ice cream, and there's even a kids menu for the tiny diners too.
