It’s estimated that we spend a third of our lives in bed – and yet, one poor night’s sleep can disrupt us for days!
If you’re not feeling as rested in the mornings as you used to, it could be because you need to replace your mattress.
At Beds For Everyone over 45 years’ experience of mattress technology has given them bed knowhow that’s second to none.
And the newly refurbished, redecorated, refreshed and replenished showroom at Swinnow Grange Mills, Leeds, offers a wide range of beds, mattresses and more for all budgets.
Regular clients will be greeted by familiar faces, but with a whole new look and some exciting new additions, if you’ve not been before then a world of wonderful options awaits.
Ask the experts
George Kelly and his brother Edward have took over the reins of the business in November last year from Roger Mercer, who founded and ran it for 45 years.
But whilst George looks after the finances and Edward brings his friendly personality to greeting customers front of house, they have retained the expertise of Roger who is helping them with the transition period – meaning clients can rest assured they will receive the very best advice and care when picking out a new bed or mattress.
Clients have been returning here for years, and there’s no better recommendation than that.
George says one customer in her mid-40s remembers getting her first proper bed from Beds For Everyone as a child, and she’s been buying from them ever since, even returning for her own kids’ beds.
How often should you have a new mattress?
You should expect to change a mattress every decade at least, and cheaper ones will be past their best after a few years.
Of course, this can depend on many factors – how much use they get, weight and build of the people using it. But George says it’s a good benchmark.
“We have retained some of our suppliers, but also brought in new names and brands which offer a higher quality for similar prices,” he explained. “A lot of our stock will last around eight years and we have some with a 10-year manufacturers’ guarantee.
“We have the space to show a wide range though that would suit all budgets and ages,” he said. After all, a bed for a child or teenager might not be needed as long as a mature couple. That’s where the expertise of Roger and Steve comes into its own.
They stock all sizes from a small single (2’ 6”) up to superking (6ft), and with prices starting at £85 for a light quilt mattress suitable for a child, your bed doesn’t have to break the bank.
Mattress technology
If you don’t know your open coil mattress from your pocket sprung, then you’re not alone. But at Beds For Everyone you can sit, lie and bounce on the beds, which are nicely laid out in a showroom (rather than a warehouse) style. Customers are encouraged to take their time to choose – but if you’re in a hurry the lead time for delivery can be really quick.
There are special mattresses for those with back issues or arthritis. George says there is even one which contains copper, a metal which many believe has powers to alleviate arthritis symptoms.
Home delivery
And speaking of delivery, not only can they deliver around Leeds and beyond into Morley, Pontefract, Huddersfield and more (depending on distance and logistics).
They will also assemble your bed and take away any old mattress or bed, provided it is in reasonable clean condition, so you don’t have to worry about getting rid of your old one.
Your home; your style
There are plenty of bed style choices to suit your tastes and needs too. Short of storage? You might want to look at an ottoman with some storage underneath.
“We have a wide range of styles and colours,” said George. One of the luxurious styles popular at the moment is a bed with integral headboard and ottoman at the foot of the bed for that boutique boudoir feel.
“This beautiful bed gives the feeling of a dressing room, and of course provides extra storage.”
Alongside new makes and styles of bed and mattress, they have also introduced a range of bedside cabinets, specialist pillows and mattress protectors.
