Naturaw, a West Yorkshire-based dog food company, has been announced as the winner of Allica Bank’s Yorkshire Business is Beautiful competition, supported by The Yorkshire Post.

The competition celebrated Yorkshire’s sometimes-overlooked established businesses that make up the backbone of the local economy, highlighting the people, places and moments that make these businesses special.

Allica Bank invited local established businesses (those with between five and 250 employees) to share photographs capturing what they find most meaningful, distinctive or inspiring about their company, from striking shots of trucks on Yorkshire roads, entered by runner-up Drainfast, to a beautiful piece of stone backlit by the setting sun, entered by runner-up Lapicida Stone.

The winning photograph, which captured a vibrant and committed team with a colourful delivery, was awarded by a judging panel which included one of Allica Bank’s Yorkshire-based relationship managers, Katie Roberts, Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post, Greg Wright, and local professional photographer Jack Gray, who will now work with Naturaw to deliver a professional business photoshoot as part of their prize.

The photo was chosen for its authenticity and the fact that “in a single image, you understand what the business does, the care that goes into the process, and the people behind it”, said judge Greg.

Jess Warneken, founder of Naturaw, said: “It’s super for all of our staff, suppliers and customers at Naturaw HQ here at Thorp Arch to be recognised by the Allica Bank Business is Beautiful competition. A lot of hard work is always going on behind the scenes, and it’s great that something like this can bring it to the fore.

“This photo showed the Junkyard Dogs collecting an order from our HQ when they recently came by to meet our team and see how the food that fuels their dogs is made. The Junkyard Dogs are a Yorkshire-based Flyball team that we have worked with for a few years, who won the Flyball Trophy at Crufts 2026. Our food powers their canine athletes to perform at the very top.

“We’re really proud of winning because we are an authentic Yorkshire business success story! Our packaging is industry-leading and completely plastic-free, all of our meat comes from British farmers, and we are certified B Corp. Naturaw has also just been awarded by the King, and we are lucky enough to have a really amazing team of passionate, purpose-driven people. We really don’t do things like anyone else, and have made zero compromises along the way.

“In the future, we’re looking forward to more growth, more dogs eating better food and opportunities for staff progression as the business continues to expand; there is a Rawvolution going on!”

Katie Roberts, one of Allica Bank’s relationship managers in Yorkshire and one of the competition judges, said: “Established businesses are a really important part of Yorkshire’s economy, but unfortunately they don’t always get the recognition they deserve.

“The Yorkshire Business is Beautiful competition was created to celebrate these businesses, their contributions and the people, passion and hard work that is always going on in the background, even if we don’t always appreciate it. I see amazing things being done every day by these businesses, so being able to support this initiative and showcase the marvellous community here in Yorkshire was a really rewarding experience.

“Naturaw’s entry perfectly captured that driven and local spirit - authentic, hardworking and proudly rooted in Yorkshire. The image showcased not only the care and dedication that go into the business but also the people and relationships responsible for its success. We’re delighted to celebrate Naturaw and share their story, and look forward to seeing countless wagging tails as dogs across the UK enjoy their delicious dinners!
