The Whites moved to approach Brentford about Jozefzoon after becoming aware of the Dutch winger's availability last week after one and a half years at the Bees.
But despite United indicating that they would match Brentford’s valuation, the 27-year-old has instead opted to join the Rams and take up a lucrative salary under former England star and new Derby boss Lampard at Pride Park.

Asked for his reasons in choosing to sign for the Rams, Jozefzoon said: "They have a really good squad and good players and now a new manager.
“He was a big player and is now in his first job as a trainer so of course, I am excited.
"He always made a name for himself and I think he was the best scoring midfielder.
"He has a lot of experience as a player, he knows a lot of big trainers so for me the challenge was to come here and join them and see what the season will bring.”
