"For good players" - Daniel Farke on Mykhailo Mudryk reports and Leeds United transfer window vow
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke was asked about interest in Chelsea’s Mykhailo Mudryk at his post-Nottingham Forest press conference.
Daniel Farke will not confirm Leeds United interest in Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk but has made a Leeds United final week of the summer transfer window vow.
Farke saw his side enjoy a winning start to their second season back in the Premier League on Saturday as Anton Stach’s brilliant 88th-minute free-kick sealed a 1-0 victory at Nottingham Forest.
Big summer signings James Trafford, Tarik Muharemovic and Harry Wilson all started the contest whilst fellow new arrival Nico Elvedi was named on the bench and ultimately an unused substitute.
Reports also emerged ahead of the game of Leeds interest in Chelsea winger Mudryk with a view to the possibility of signing the Ukraine international star on loan.
Farke was then specifically asked about Mudryk at his post-Forest press conference and the Whites boss maintained his preference to avoid commenting on individual players or even positions.
Farke, though, said Leeds were “always open” to looking at good players and vowed that he would make sure United “pushed” until the last day of the window to give the Whites the best possible squad.
At Saturday’s post Forest press conference, it was put to Farke by a journalist that ‘we had seen a lot about you in the media recently looking for a left winger and if there was a specific profile of player Leeds were looking for.’
“For good players we are always open”
“In which media have you heard it?” asked Farke.
To which the response was “Mykhailo Mudryk specifically”
With a smile, Farke pondered and said: “Ah okay.....I'm not sure if I ever mentioned the profile or opposition anyhow. I can't really remember it.
"But for good players we are always open.
"Like I mentioned, I'm happy with my squad.
"We have replaced some important players with really good talented young players but I will also make sure that they're pushed to the last day of this window for giving this club the best possible squad. And we'll see then in which position.
"I don't want to speak too much about profiles or positions, because if I speak too much about it, then the price goes up and we work sustainable so for that behind the scenes our people do a lot and for that not too much about names or profiles anyhow. We just work on it."
