Graham Smyth delivers Brentford v Leeds United prediction
Yorkshire Evening Post’s Chief Football Writer Graham Smyth has his say on how Leeds United’s trip to Brentford will unfold.
Leeds United head on the road this weekend to face Brentford and will be wanting to keep their momentum up after securing huge results against Chelsea and Liverpool in their last two Premier League games.
Leeds boss Daniel Farke was under a lot of pressure heading into two difficult fixtures, but managed to galvanise his side to pick up four points in those two games at Elland Road, and he’ll be hoping he can transfer this home form away when they face Keith Andrews’ Brentford side at the Gtech on Sunday.
Graham Smyth’s Brentford v Leeds prediction
Yorkshire Evening Post’s Chief Football Writer Graham Smyth outlined how this match might not be one of the most entertaining to watch for fans of other sides in the top-flight.
Speaking on the Inside Elland Road podcast, Smyth said: “A draw. I’m gonna go, I'm gonna say 1-1. I'm gonna say it's an attritional, not one for the neutral.
“And who do I think is going to score a goal? I wonder if we might see a wing-back score a goal, which would be a fine thing indeed. But yeah, I'm going to go for a draw. Anything more than that, phenomenal. You know, they can party all the way back up the road, and I'd give them an extra day for their Christmas party if they got a win there because very few teams win there, this season, and it would be remarkable, and they would be bouncing into Christmas in that Palace game. So, a win would be phenomenal, but I would take a draw 100%.”
‘We will be buzzing going into the Christmas period’
Host of the Inside Elland Road podcast Chris O’Connor also gave his prediction, and he was a bit more optimistic than Smyth.
“I can see your prediction coming true, but off the back of this week, I'm not going to predict anything other than a Leeds United win,” O’Connor said, “I think our midfield three can get the better of them. I really like what I'm seeing from them, and they're starting to develop a bit of a relationship. I think Stach's going to have a really big game. I really do. I think he's really settling in, and he had a bit of a wobble as he was established, and maybe didn't quite light up as quickly as we thought from some of those pre-season games.
“I don't know how it will happen, but I think he'll be instrumental and I think it will be a Leeds United away win, and we will be buzzing going into the Christmas period.”
