With Leeds United back in the big time and competing in the Premier League well, we take a look at some of the Whites’ past transfers and their potential worth now.
From Rio Ferdinand to Billy Bremner and John Charlies, it’s often a hot topic of debate as to how much players would be worth in 2021.
So using the ‘Measuring Worth’ calculator, we’ve estimated how much players would be worth in the current day - and Leeds could still get some bargains!
But how accurate is the calculator?

1. Don Revie
Back in 1958, club legend Don Revie cost Leeds United just £14k. And that sum, according to the Measuring Worth calculator, equals £1.3m in today's money. But that figure does seem small... England internationals, as we know, tend to sell for a bit more in today's market!Photo: Evening Standard
2. Eric Cantona
Eric Cantona was purchased from Leeds by Manchester United in 1992 for £1.2m. In 2021, the Measuring Worth calculator equals that fee to £3.6m. However, with the football transfer market as bloated as it is, you could expect the Frenchman to fetch anything upwards of £50m in today's climate.Photo: Getty Images
3. John Charles
Back in 1957, John Charles - one of the greatest player's of his era - was transferred for £65k. The Measuring Worth calculator, however, predicts the Welshman to be worth £6.5m in today's currency.Photo: Getty Images
4. Mark Viduka
In 2001, Mark Viduka was transferred for £6m which was a big fee back then! In 2021, the Measuring Worth calculator predicts the striker would be worth around £11.6m in today's economy.Photo: Gary M. Prior
5. Billy Bremner
The Leeds United legend was worth just £25k back in 1976. That fee would be around £404k in today's market according to the Measuring Worth calculator. But it's safe to say a man of Bremner's talents might have been worth a lot more had he played in the modern era.Photo: Getty Images
6. Danny Mills
In 1999, Danny Mills went for a cool £4.1m - a lofty fee back in the late 90s! In 2021, the Measuring Worth calculator states that that fee equals around £8.7m in today's money. But given Mills' talents and the transfer market as it is now, he would surely attract a bigger fee in modern-day football.Photo: Clive Brunskill
