Leeds United gave themselves a massive boost in their quest for Premier League survival with a huge 2-1 win at Manchester United and it’s led to a mammoth change in the club’s relegation odds.
Daniel Farke’s Whites began the weekend sat four points clear of the dropzone but third-bottom West Ham moved just one point behind Leeds through Friday night’s 3-0 win at home to Wolves which left Tottenham in the dropzone.
Tottenham then travelled to Sunderland on Sunday in new boss Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge but the Italian was unable to steer Spurs to a first win of 2026 as they suffered a 1-0 defeat.
The reverse left Spurs two points behind fourth-bottom West Ham and three adrift of both Leeds and Nottingham Forest but with Farke’s Whites having played a game less.
Forest’s 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa on Sunday took them level on points with Leeds and only behind them on goal difference but Monday night’s clash at Manchester United presented Farke’s Whites with a chance to kick on again.
Leeds were huge underdogs against Michael Carrick’s Red Devils but Farke’s side left with a brilliant 2-1 victory that now has them six points clear of the dropzone with six games left and also three points ahead of fourth-bottom Forest and four points clear of fourth-bottom West Ham.
It was an almighty boost and it’s led to an almighty change in the club’s relegation odds with the bookies in their new predicted final table.
