"Not sure they will" - Alan Shearer's Leeds United verdict with Whites praise and Man City match prediction
Alan Shearer has given his Leeds United verdict ahead of Saturday’s visit of Manchester City.
Alan Shearer has served up Leeds United praise in providing his prediction for Saturday’s huge Premier League clash against title-chasing Manchester City at Elland Road.
Leeds and City will lock horns for the second time this season in Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off at LS11, three months on from United’s 3-2 defeat at the Etihad at the end of November.
Three months later, Daniel Farke’s Whites have lost just two of their last 16 games in league and cup with leaders Arsenal the only team to have left Elland Road with three points since.
Providing his match prediction, Shearer hailed Leeds for being a particularly “tough nut to crack” at home as he also highlighted City’s tendency to offer their opponents chances ahead of their trip to Elland Road.
“A tough nut to crack, especially at home”
Shearer, though, ultimately expects that Pep Guardiola’s title chasers will prove too good for Farke’s hosts.
Speaking to Betfair, Shearer said: “Leeds are always a tough nut to crack, especially at home. We saw how tough they are to beat against Chelsea when they were two goals down and that was away from home. But Man City are a completely different kettle of fish.
“It'll be a brilliant atmosphere and City do give you chances. They were hanging on against Newcastle last weekend at home, but they are just going to have too much for them.
“We're going to say it so many times between now and the end of the season but playing before Arsenal it really is important to pile the pressure on.
“If you said to Leeds if they would take a point, they would, but I'm not sure they will.”
