"I thought I saw" - Arne Slot's big Leeds United praise with Liverpool difficulty and Whites expectation

Arne Slot takes his Liverpool side to Elland Road to face Leeds United on Saturday for a 5.15pm kick-off.

Arne Slot has served up big Leeds United praise with Liverpool expectation and Reds difficulty for Saturday’s clash against Daniel Farke’s Whites at Elland Road.

Slot’s defending Premier League champions will provide United’s third and final opponents of a very demanding week on Saturday evening, hot on the heels of fellow huge tests against Manchester City and Chelsea.

Leeds, though, have impressed in both games, causing City an almighty scare before suffering a heart-breaking last gap defeat and then condemning Chelsea to a 3-1 defeat in Wednesday night’s clash at Elland Road.

Upon watching both games, Slot has served up plenty of praise for Leeds, the Reds boss expecting what he saw in the second half against City and full match versus Chelsea for general difficulties posed by Farke’s side.

The Reds boss has his own problems at present with Liverpool only sitting ninth - and Slot says Chelsea’s loss at Leeds presented many similarities to recent Reds defeats.

Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference and as quoted by Liverpool’s official website, Slot said of Farke’s Whites: “Yesterday I looked at Leeds v Chelsea and I thought I saw a Liverpool game; Chelsea conceding a set-piece and for the third goal making a big, big error where they conceded a goal from. [It was] very difficult for them.

“Either Leeds went very aggressive to one-v-one or they went to a low block and it was really hard to create chances.

“It's not only difficult for us, that playing style, it's difficult for many teams – including us.

“So what we expect is what we've seen in the second half against [Manchester] City when they were 2-0 down, coming back to 2-2.

“Eventually [Phil] Foden made the difference with a moment of magic for City and against City they were really strong and played a very good game.

“They were really aggressive and had a lot of long balls as well from their goalkeeper.

“We know what to expect but what to expect is probably what we've faced [in] all of the games with maybe the exception of two.”
