Double Leeds United boost as Daniel Farke names Whites team vs Arsenal where stars return
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United team to face Arsenal.
Whites boss Daniel Farke has named his Leeds United team for Saturday lunchtime’s return to Premier League action at champions Arsenal where the squad has received a double boost.
Joe Rodon (hamstring) and Dan James (back) had already been ruled out through injury but Farke said at Thursday’s pre-match press conference that Harry Wilson and Jean-Matteo Bahoya both had chances of featuring as they recovered from blows.
Wilson suffered a quad injury before the international break which led to him missing the home clash against Crystal Palace and also pulling out of the Wales squad.
Wilson, though, returned to team training on Tuesday, Farke saying Leeds would wait to see how his body reacted but there was a chance that he could be available.
Bahoya sprained his ankle playing for France’s under-21s last weekend, a blow which forced the deadline day signing to leave the squad.
Bahoya, though, was back out on the pitch with his Leeds teammates on Thursday and also faced a late check.
In a double boost, both players make the bench as Farke names an unchanged team against the Gunners.
In a quadruple boost for Mikel Arteta’s Gunners, Declan Rice, Kai Havertz, Ezri Konsa and Ben White all start having been injury doubts of varying degrees.
Christos Tzolis, though, misses out through the injury picked up during the international break.
Tzolis is replaced by Noni Madueke as part of three changes to the side, White coming for the benched Jurrien Timber and Myles Lewis-Skelly also replacing Bruno Guimaraes who drops to the bench.
Arsenal: Raya, White, Gabriel, Konsa, Calafiori, Lewis-Skelly, Rice, Odegaard, Saka, Madueke, Havertz. Subs: Arrizabalaga, Timber, Hincapie, Zubimendi, Merino, Guimaraes, Eze, Dowman, Gyokeres.
Leeds United: Trafford; Bogle, Justin, Elvedi, Muharemovic, Gudmundsson; Ampadu, Tanaka, Stach; Okafor, Calvert-Lewin. Subs: Zetterer, Bard, Bijol, Gruev, Longstaff, Aaronson, Wilson, Bahoya, Nmecha.
