Tennis great urges Leeds United star call with message for boss after Liverpool game viewing

A tennis great is urging a call to be made with a Leeds United star.

Tennis great Boris Becker is urging a call to be made with Leeds United star and German compatriot Anton Stach.

Daniel Farke’s Whites looked to be staring defeat in the face after a rapid double from Hugo Ekitike within four minutes of the restart but a Dominic Calvert-Lewin penalty brought Leeds back within a goal before a brilliant effort from Stach drew United level.

The midfielder still had plenty to do after being teed up by Brenden Aaronson on the edge of the box but the midfielder stormed his way inside before unleashing a powerful low drive past Allison into the bottom left corner.

“Even got him on the list?!”

Liverpool then regained the lead through Dominik Szoboszlai but Ao Tanaka’s 96th-minute equaliser ultimately bagged Leeds a point in which Stach’s efforts were key.

The summer signing has started 12 of United’s 15 league games - one of which he was forced to miss due to concussion protocols - and already has two goals and two assists.

The German midfielder has proved a fine acquisition - and fellow countryman Becker now wants to see Stach rewarded with an international call up.

Stach has two Germany caps to his name but both of those came from the bench in 2022 and the midfielder has not featured for his country since.

Taking to social media at the weekend, Becker wrote: “Just watched Leeds United against Liverpool. Leeds United has a young German playing for them, Anton Stach! Has Julian Nagelsmann ever scouted him or even got him on the list?!?”
