Premier League confirm Bournemouth vs Leeds United referee decision after recent goal-fests

The referee for Saturday’s Premier League meeting between Leeds United and Bournemouth has been confirmed.

The Premier League have confirmed their latest round of referee appointments with Michael Salisbury to take charge of Bournemouth vs Leeds United.

Leeds head to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday looking to maintain their steadily impressive start to the season. The Whites drew 0-0 at Sunderland last time out and while victories have been lacking, Daniel Farke’s side have proven a difficult nut to crack.

Weekend hosts Bournemouth have bounced back from a difficult opening few weeks to win their last four matches without conceding in all competitions. The Cherries ripped Manchester United apart on their way to a 3-0 win at Old Trafford last weekend and face Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup tonight.

Ahead of Saturday’s south coast meeting, the Premier League have announced their referee appointments with Salisbury in charge at the Vitality. He will be assisted by Adrian Holmes and Conor Brown, with Tom Reeves as fourth official and Nick Hopton in Stockley Park on VAR duties.

Salisbury’s weekends this season have been split between the Premier League and Championship, with the referee only taking charge of three top-flight games. In those matches, he’s blown for 21.67 fouls and brandished 2.33 yellow cards per 90 minutes on average, making him one of the division’s more lenient officials.

Despite only refereeing three Premier League games this campaign, Salisbury has already been involved with Leeds as he took charge of their dominant 4-1 win at home to Newcastle United. He was also in the middle for the Whites’ 4-3 defeat at St James’ Park last season and their previous trip to the Vitality Stadium in April.

That clash ended in a 2-2 draw meaning Leeds’ last three fixtures with Salisbury as referee have averaged a whopping 5.3 goals per game. Fans will be hoping for more of the same this weekend, so long as it ends with three points for Farke’s side.
