International return for Leeds United attacker as Premier League teammate scores stunner
A Leeds United attacker has made a quick international return.
Leeds United attacker Brenden Aaronson has made a quick international return after a big personal change in a match lit up by a Premier League teammate scoring a stunner.
Aaronson was named in boss Mauricio Pochettino’s 26-man USA squad for this summer’s World Cup and linked up with his international teammates for a training camp to be followed by two final pre-tournament friendlies.
The international camp, though, came amid a huge personal development for Aaronson who then flew back home to Medford last weekend to get married.
Aaronson’s trip back home was signed off by boss Pochettino who then welcomed the Leeds star back to camp the following day ahead of last weekend’s friendly against Senegal for which Aaronson was an unused substitute.
The Leeds star was then again named on the bench for Saturday’s final friendly against Germany in which he made a quick international return in being brought on with 18 minutes left.
Pochettino’s side suffered a 2-1 defeat in the contest despite a stunning strike from Aaronson’s teammate and fellow Premier League ace Antonee Robinson.
Arsenal’s Kai Havertz fired Germany ahead with just two minutes on the clock but Fulham full-back Robinson blasted home an unstoppable first time volley from the edge of the box after a corner was cleared in the 37th minute.
Leroy Sane, though, bagged the game’s winning goal three minutes before the hour mark, Aaronson then brought on for Mailk Tilman 15 minutes later as the USA looked for an equaliser.
