Georginio Rutter injury update ahead of Leeds United visit to Brighton with half a team out
An injury update on former Whites star Georginio Rutter ahead of Leeds United’s trip to Brighton.
Brighton’s ex-Whites star Georginio Rutter could return from injury to face his former Leeds United team in Saturday’s Premier League clash at the Amex but the Seagulls have half a team out.
Rutter played the full duration of Brighton’s first game of the Premier League season at home to Aston Villa in which he bagged an assist in a 4-0 win but the Frenchman missed last weekend’s 4-3 defeat at Chelsea with a minor injury.
Rutter, though, and also the recently injured Yasin Ayari are now options for Saturday’s visit of Leeds along with deadline day signing Chema Andres.
Fellow deadline day signing Femi Azeez, though, is not yet ready to feature and is out along with Kaoru Mitoma, Yankuba Minteh, Jack Hinshelwood, Evan Ferguson, Mats Wieffer and Stefanos Tzimas.
Running through his team news at Friday’s pre-match press conference and as quoted by Brighton’s official website, Seagulls boss Fabian Hurzeler said: “"Femi [Azeez] is obviously carrying a slight injury at the moment.
“I think Chema can definitely be an option for tomorrow. With Femi, we have to wait this weekend and hopefully he will be available for the next game.
"We expect Mats Wieffer to be out until the international break. Georginio and Yasin Ayari might be options for tomorrow."
All the injuries are very unlucky with how they happened, especially the injury with Mats, that’s a very unlucky one. But it’s also great opportunity for others to step in now. We have to go day by day.
"Kaoru Mitoma will be back after international break, we have to be patient. Hopefully our wingers can come back quickly."
