Carabao Cup draw details as Leeds United enter competition in second round: Game dates and TV coverage

Carabao Cup second round draw details as Leeds United enter the competition at that stage.

Leeds United are now just a little over two weeks away from beginning their second season back in the Premier League yet the club’s first game of the season will be followed by a Carabao Cup clash.

Daniel Farke’s Whites will begin the 2026-27 Premier League season with a trip to Nottingham Forest in a 3pm kick-off on Saturday, August 22.

The fixture calendar then shows United’s first home game of the season next up through the visit of Brentford in a 2pm kick-off on Sunday, August 30, the game having already been moved for coverage on Sky Sports.

But Leeds will have a Carabao Cup tie in between their first two league games upon entering the competition in the second round, the draw for which will take place on Monday night.

The 11 Premier League Clubs not participating in European competitions will enter in the second round of the competition which is regionalised until round three.

The EFL have announced that the draw for round two will take place live during the build-up to Plymouth Argyle vs Exeter City on Sky Sports Football on Monday, August 10.

Sky Sports presenter David Prutton will host the draw at approximately 7:20pm, alongside pundits Jobi McAnuff and Jamie Mackie.

Ties will take place the week commencing Monday, August 24 which will mean either a Tuesday or Wednesday evening cup clash for the Whites in between the Forest and Brentford games.

The first round games take place this weekend.

In terms of potential close away days, Harrogate Town are now longer in the competition following last season’s relegation to the National League and York City are already out having failed to get past preliminary round hosts Salford City.

But Bradford City, Huddersfield Town, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday all feature in the northern section which does however also feature Wrexham, Shrewsbury Town, Wolves and West Brom.
