Former Leeds United youngster set for medical ahead of big €28m switch
A former Leeds United youngster is set for a big move.
Former Leeds United youngster Charlie Cresswell is set for a medical ahead of a big move costing a package of €28m.
England youth international defender Cresswell came through United’s Academy before progressing to the first team only to find game time limited amid competition for the centre-back spots.
Cresswell then ended over a decade with Leeds when joining French outfit Toulouse in July 2024 for a fee thought to be in the region of £3.8m.
Now 23 years old, Creswell’s stock has risen considerably since and Brighton saw a bid of €23m rejected by Toulouse in the January transfer window.
It had been reported that Brighton could go back in for Cresswell this summer and Crystal Palace were also linked with a move for the former Leeds youngster.
David Ornstein, though, has reported that Cresswell is now set for a medical with Rennes ahead of a loan move with a €2.5m loan fee and buy obligation of €22.5m plus €3m and 10 per cent future sale.
Taking to social media platform X, Ornstein wrote: “Charlie Cresswell set to take medical on Sunday ahead of joining Rennes from Toulouse.
