Leeds United get fresh Premier League boost and position change as rivals falter

Leeds United have received a fresh Premier League boost and position change - without even playing.

Friday night’s 3-1 win at home to already-relegated Burnley took Leeds nine points clear of third-bottom Tottenham Hotspur but also up a position into 14th place as the Whites leapfrogged Newcastle United.

Newcastle then moved back above Leeds with Saturday afternoon’s 3-1 win at home to Palace which left Leeds 15th but level on points with Crystal Palace who also dropped below the Magpies into 14th.

Palace then took on Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Sunday afternoon, beginning the day only ahead of Leeds on goal difference by a two goals.

Bournemouth, though, continued their fine form with a 3-0 victory which has taken Leeds back into 14th place without even playing in moving above Palace on goal difference
