Close Leeds United Premier League rivals agree deal in principle for new head coach after boss departure

Close Leeds United rivals have agreed a deal in principle for a new head coach.

Leeds United’s close 2025-26 Premier League rivals Crystal Palace have agreed a deal in principle for a new head coach following the departure of Oliver Glasner.

Austrian manager Glasner steered Palace to Europa Conference League glory in his second full season in charge of the Eagles but the 51-year-old announced in January that he would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

Despite their European joy, Palace could only finish 15th in the Premier League table - two points and a place behind newly-promoted Leeds.

Ahead of what will be the club’s 14th consecutive season in the country’s top flight, the South London outfit have now agreed a deal in principle for Lens boss Pierre Sage to become their new head coach.

According to Sky Sports, 47-year-old Frenchman Sage is set to sign contract until the summer of 2029 with an option of a further year.
