Leeds United star Dan James suffers fresh injury blow in Man City loss with "out for a while" fears
A Leeds United attacker has suffered a fresh injury blow.
Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has revealed that Dan James suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday’s defeat at Manchester City and fears the winger might be out for a while.
Wales international star James was handed his first start since returning from an ankle injury in Saturday’s clash at the Etihad but the 28-year-old was one of two players brought off at the break as Farke changed his system.
James and fellow winger Willy Gnonto were both taken off as Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Jaka Bijol were introduced as part of a shift to a 3-5-2 system which triggered a stirring second half comeback.
Speaking post match, Farke said there were various reasons for making his changes but also revealed to BBC Radio Leeds that James had reported a hamstring injury that “didn’t look good” after the game.
“It could be that he is out for a while”
The winger is now facing further assessment ahead of Wednesday night’s quick return to action at home to Chelsea.
Speaking post match to BBC Radio Leeds, Farke was asked if any injuries had been suffered at the Etihad and said: “Daniel James reported some hamstring injuries at half time so it could be that he has done his hamstring.
"We have to wait for further assessment I hope it's not too bad.
“But straight after the game it didn't look too good so it could be that he is out for a while.”
