Leeds United ace makes fresh international impact but setback suffered as three Whites men get starts

A Leeds United ace has made a fresh international impact.

Leeds United attacker Dan James has made another fresh international impact but ultimately amid a setback for the winger and Whites team mates.

James returned from a series of recent injury issues to play a more prominent role in United’s Premier League run-in and the winger was then one of five Leeds players called up to Wales boss Craig Bellamy’s squad for two June friendlies.

James was named man of the match in Tuesday evening’s 1-1 draw at home to Ghana and the winger was handed another start in Saturday evening’s friendly against Romania in Bucharest.

Whites team mates Ethan Ampadu and Joe Rodon also started the match for which Leeds keeper Karl Darlow dropped to the bench as Danny Ward lined up in goal.

After a goalless first half, Romania went ahead with 52 minutes on the clock through Florinel Coman but James then set up David Brooks to draw Wales level three minutes after the hour mark.

Romania, though, ultimately bagged the game’s winning goal with eight minutes left through Adrian Rus as the Dragons suffered a setback in their final friendly before September’s Nations League matches.

Wales captain Ampadu and Rodon both played the full duration of the match in which James was brought off for Sorba Thomas with 19 minutes left.

Darlow stayed on the bench as Ward played the full game in goal whilst Leeds youngster Jayden Lienou was not called for upon his late call up to the squad.
