Leeds United vs Aston Villa: Daniel Farke press conference live, defender injury update, Willy Gnonto latest
Leeds United resume their Premier League survival bid with Sunday’s visit of Aston Villa.
The year’s final international break is done with - and Daniel Farke will provide his Leeds United team news for Sunday’s huge Premier League visit of Aston Villa today.
Leeds will resume their top-flight survival bid with Sunday’s 2pm kick-off at home to Unai Emery’s sixth-placed side, ahead of which Farke’s Whites sit fifth-bottom and just one point clear of the dropzone.
Farke is holding his pre-match press conference conference from Thorp Arch at 1.30pm on Friday afternoon, at which there will be plenty to cover, topped by the latest Whites team news.
Leeds had several players away on international duty including clear first choice left back Gabriel Gudmundsson who had an injury scare with Sweden as he missed a training session due to a small injury.
Gudmundsson, though, ultimately featured in both games for Sweden during the break, ahead of which Belgian international defender Sebastiaan Bornauw had been Farke’s only injured player.
Bornauw had been a doubt for the clash at Nottingham Forest after taking a hit against his MCL in training and failed to make the matchday squad in addition to Willy Gnonto who was still missing despite having returned to training after a calf injury and then minor hernia surgery.
Farke said after the 3-1 defeat at Forest that Leeds did not want to risk Gnonto after such a long time out and that the winger would have a bit more of a pre-season during the international break.
Updates on Bornauw, Gnonto, Gudmundsson and the club’s other returning internationals will be forthcoming as Farke speaks to the press and we will bring you all of the main news here.
