Fresh Leeds United injury blow as attacker ruled out of Crystal Palace visit but midfielder back in mix

Daniel Farke with the Leeds United injury latest.

Whites boss Daniel Farke has provided the Leeds United injury news for Sunday’s Premier League visit of Crystal Palace for which a fresh blow has left an international attacker out.

Aside from long term absentee Mateo Joseph, centre-back Joe Rodon remained United’s only injury for Monday night’s hosting of Newcastle United in which a very impressive 4-1 victory sent Farke’s side third in the very early table after four games played.

Rodon suffered a hamstring injury midway through the first half of the 1-1 draw at home to Brentford at the end of August, after which Farke revealed the defender was facing eight to ten weeks out.

Farke, though, provided news of a fresh injury blow at Friday afternoon’s pre-Palace press conference, revealing that Wales international attacker Harry Wilson had suffered a quad injury and would be out until after the September/October international break.

Farke said: “Sadly Harry Wilson is out for this game with a quad injury, some problems after last game. He’ll also probably miss the Welsh games. Joe Rodon is out but all the others are available. I hope to have Harry Wilson back the other side of the international break.”

Ilia Gruev is among those also now back available, the Bulgarian international midfielder having bagged minutes for United’s under-21s in his continued comeback from a meniscus knee injury.

Farke said: “Ilia got important first minutes with the under-21s, nearly 90 minutes. He’s available for the weekend.”
