Every word Daniel Farke said on Facundo Buonanotte, transfers & injury news ahead of Fulham
Daniel Farke will speak to the media this afternoon ahead of Leeds United's Premier League meeting with Fulham at Elland Road.
Leeds United welcome Fulham to Elland Road this weekend and ahead of another intriguing Premier League clash, Daniel Farke will speak with the media today.
The Whites kicked off their FA Cup campaign with a 3-1 comeback win at Derby County in round three last time out. Goals from Willy Gnonto, Ao Tanaka and James Justin capped off a professional second-half from Farke’s side, who will face Birmingham City in the next round.
Sebastiaan Bornauw was forced off at half-time against Derby due to an adductor injury and is doubtful for the weekend. Farke said after the victory at Pride Park his defender’s issue didn’t look too serious and the Whites boss will provide more clarity this afternoon.
Joe Rodon and Sean Longstaff have both earned important minutes in recent weeks, the latter making his return from a seven-week lay-off at Pride Park, and should be involved on Saturday barring any fresh issues. Farke might also provide an update on longer-term absentee Daniel James who remains sidelined with a hamstring tendon injury.
An update is also expected to come regarding Jayden Bogle, who hasn’t featured since the 0-0 draw at Liverpool on New Year’s Day due to a calf problem. The attacking right-back has felt close to a return and was understandably not risked at Derby, with potential to be involved against Fulham so long as he’s been back in team training.
Bogle’s absence could have proved a major issue for Leeds this month, but for the brilliant form of Justin. The £10million summer signing capped off an excellent few weeks with his first Whites goal on Sunday and given the opportunity, Farke will no doubt take his chance to heap praise on the impressive defender.
Gnonto also impressed at Derby and fired home a brilliant equaliser, taking his chance during what has been a season of reduced minutes. The Italian has suffered from a move away from natural wingers in a 3-5-2 formation but could play as a second-striker, and Farke could be given the chance to discuss the matter.
Daniel Farke to provide Leeds United January transfer update
We’re now halfway through the January transfer window and with Leeds yet to make any serious moves, Farke will certainly be quizzed on plans for the next fortnight. The Whites boss wanted attacking quality in the summer and will likely be eyeing the same this month, with the YEP reporting in December the loan market will be explored.
Leeds are utilising the loan market in terms of outgoings, with Harry Gray officially joining League One Rotherham United for the remainder of the season. Today will be Farke’s first opportunity to provide his thoughts on the 17-year-old’s shot at regular senior football with the Millers.
Farke might also be quizzed on Jack Harrison, for whom Leeds and Fiorentina remain in talks over a loan switch with a potential option to buy. The 29-year-old failed to stand out at Derby and is on the fringes of first-team football, having started just one Premier League game.
Finally, Farke will likely get the chance to speak about Saturday’s opponents. Fulham have enjoyed a climb up the Premier League table and might offer inspiration to Leeds as to how a string of wins can really improve their survival chances.
