Triple Leeds United blow as Daniel Farke provides Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor, Anton Stach injury news

Daniel Farke with the Leeds United team news for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Three key Leeds United attackers including Whites no 9 Dominic Calvert-Lewin are all nursing injuries in a triple blow ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash at Sunderland.

Boss Daniel Farke has revealed that Calvert-Lewin suffered a bruised foot in last Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United which has left question marks about his availability whilst Noah Okafor (adductor) and Anton Stach (foot) are also doubts with new injuries.

Centre-back Joe Rodon also remains out as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury but winger Dan James is now back in contention after recovering from his back problem.

James and Rodon were the only two absentees for last weekend’s 1-1 draw at home to Manchester United, Rodon continuing to work his way back to fitness from the serious hamstring injury suffered in the 1-1 draw at home to Brentford on August 30.

The Wales international centre-back was thought to be looking at eight to ten weeks out, Farke saying ahead of last Sunday’s visit of the Red Devils that Rodon was edging closer and making good progress with his rehab work but not yet back in team training and still out.

James, meanwhile, returned from Wales international duty with a back injury that ruled him out of the previous weekend’s return to action at Arsenal, James then back on the pitch with his team mates on the Thursday before the Red Devils clash.

Farke said last week that a late check would be taken on James depending on how his body reacted but the winger failed to make the matchday squad for the visit of their Roses rivals.

In the match itself, Calvert-Lewin took a knock from Diogo Dalot in the 89th minute and stayed down before eventually getting up and initially hobbling somewhat but then completing the match.

Leeds will now take in the first of back-to-back away games with Sunday’s clash at Sunderland, ahead of which Farke held his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon at Thorp Arch.

“Our offensive players from the last game are all doubtful”

As well as revealing that Calvert-Lewin had indeed suffered an injury albeit just bruising, Farke also revealed that Okafor and Stach were also doubtful with fresh blows.

“Our offensive players from the last game are all doubtful,” revealed Farke.

“Dominic Calvert-Lewin got a tackle and a foul late on in the last game and he is struggling since this moment with a bruise on his foot. So, problems with this and still a question mark behind his availability.

“Anton Stach the same – foot problem after the last game. It is painful at the moment, also a question mark behind his availability. And Noah Okafor is struggling with some adductor problems after the last game. If the game would be today, all three wouldn’t be available.

“They have missed many training sessions during this week. The good positive news is more or less that we still have two days to try, of course, to make them available. The question mark will be first who will be available, then also for how many minutes.

“We will have to assess them and we will need to take some late decisions. But all three of them are, in addition to Joe Rodon, major doubts. All the others seem to be okay. Daniel [James] had his first full training week. He is definitely also in contention for this game.”
