Leeds United learn good news and bad news for West Ham clash with training returns and surgery blow
Daniel Farke’s Leeds United team news for Sunday’s final game of the Premier League season at West Ham.
Leeds United's injury situation remains 'tricky' ahead of the Premier League finale at West Ham United on Sunday.
The Whites were without several key players last weekend when they hosted Brighton at Elland Road and took all three points with a smash and grab winner in stoppage time.
That game also cost them Anton Stach. The midfielder, who has missed out on a place in the Germany World Cup squad, found himself entangled with an opponent after an aerial challenge and suffered a laceration that required stitches.
Daniel Farke has welcomed a pair of first teamers back into training at Thorp Arch this week but both Stach and Sean Longstaff are now unavailable.
"Ilia Gruev, Gabi Gudmundsson, Noah Okafor are still out," said the manager. "We have Pascal Struijk back in training, hopefully he's available. Jayden Bogle could be back available, we'll wait to see how his body reacts.
‘Hernia surgery on Wednesday so he's not available’
"Bad news that Anton is not available but it's not a major injury. If the game was next Wednesday he would be available. Sean Longstaff had a hernia surgery on Wednesday so he's not available, so it's a bit tricky. We'll try to find good solutions."
Farke insists that Leeds will go into a game that could help decide the third relegation place attempting to finish on a high, despite their injury issues.
"After a fantastic season for us, so many aspects, we want the best possible finish, a good performance, a good result," he said.
"Each and every point and position counts. We're hungry to extend our unbeaten run and finish in style. If possible three points, if not one point. It's still tricky in terms of injuries, perhaps even a bit worse. But we found a way to win against Brighton. We try to do similar on Sunday."
