Leeds United ultimately fell to a rare defeat under the Elland Road lights against title-chasing Manchester City - but not for the want of trying from the team or the club’s brilliant fans.

United’s amazing recent record in evening fixtures at LS11 has been well documented yet captain Ethan Ampadu admitted beforehand that his team faced arguably their toughest test yet against Pep Guardiola’s second-placed visitors.

Leeds, though, were roared on by the usual magnificent support who created another cauldron of noise which was matched by the team’s efforts in creating a host of early chances to go ahead.

To the despair of United’s fans, Daniel Farke’s Whites were unable to make any of them count and Antoine Semenyo’s strike in first-half stoppage time ultimately gave City a 1-0 success.

But the Elland Road faithful stayed with their team right until the full-time whistle and beyond as a crowd of 36,838 packed into the club’s famous home.
