"We will" - Leeds United star makes bold Whites claim with prediction and Chelsea rivalry vow

A Leeds United star has made a Whites prediction with a Chelsea warning.

Upbeat Leeds United captain Ethan Ampadu has made a bold Whites claim and prediction with a Chelsea rivalry vow ahead of Wednesday night’s clash under the Elland Road lights.

Third-bottom Leeds will line up against third-placed Chelsea having lost their last four Premier League games and Ampadu has warned that his men now face another top team with the visit of Enzo Maresca’s Blues.

Ampadu, though, has hailed his team’s “outstanding” second half performance in Saturday’s 3-2 defeat at Manchester City, claiming that not many teams will cause City such headaches at the Etihad as Daniel Farke’s Whites did after the break.

The Whites skipper has predicted that his men will pick up lots of points if such performances are repeated, the captain now relishing being part of the historic Leeds versus Chelsea rivalry and vowing to give everything in search of a positive result.

Writing in his captain’s column of Wednesday’s match night programme, Ampadu put: “As always with this team, we have a never-say-die attitude, and I thought we were outstanding in the second half (at City).

“I don’t think many teams will cause Manchester City that many headaches at the Etihad throughout the whole season.

“We will pick up a lot”

“We got ourselves level and I felt we could have even gone on to win. But sadly we were undone by a fantastic individual goal.

“We can take a lot of heart from the performance, though, and we know if we can continue to play in the same manner we will pick up a lot of points going forward.”

Ampadu added: “Tonight, we’re looking forward to testing ourselves against another top team in Chelsea.

“Nights like this at Elland Road are what we all wanted when we won promotion to the Premier League last season.

“It’s a big game and a big rivalry, and we will be doing everything possible to get a positive result.”
