"Never" - Ethan Ampadu issues bullish Leeds United message with classy Liverpool tribute and Whites vow

Ethan Ampadu has shared his thoughts ahead of Saturday evening’s visit of Liverpool.

Whites skipper Ethan Ampadu has issued a bullish Leeds United message with a Whites vow and classy Liverpool tribute ahead of Saturday evening’s Premier League visit of the Reds.

Leeds and Liverpool will lock horns for the first time since the tragic death of Reds star Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva in Saturday’s 5.30pm kick-off at Elland Road.

Ahead of the tie, Ampadu began his programme notes on Liverpool with a classy tribute to the former Reds star, expressing United’s deepest sympathy to all involved.

As far as the match itself is concerned, Ampadu hailed the Reds as one of the best sides in the division but with a very upbeat Leeds message following Wednesday night’s win against Chelsea and vow to now “brace the occasion” against Arne Slot’s defending champions.

“This evening we do that again”

Ampadu wrote: “As captain of Leeds United, on behalf of myself and the rest of the team, I’d like to express my deep sympathy to everyone connected to Liverpool following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota in the summer. His legacy will always live on in football and he will never be forgotten.

“In terms of tonight’s game, we have proved in the last two matches that we can go toe-to-toe with the best teams in the division. This evening we do that again as we come up against one of the top sides, the reigning Premier League champions.

“As I said in Wednesday’s notes, nights like tonight and against Chelsea are why, as kids, we all dreamed of becoming professional footballers. They are why we worked so hard last season to get to the Premier League. We will again embrace the occasion and try to get another positive result.”
