"If" - Ethan Ampadu says what Leeds United must do in survival bid and supporters message after Whites blow
Ethan Ampadu has delivered a Leeds United survival bid message with four games left.
Whites captain Ethan Ampadu has delivered a confident message in Leeds United’s survival bid after Wembley disappointment for the club’s players and fans.
Ampadu helped guide Leeds to the club’s first FA Cup semi-final in 39 years but Sunday’s clash against Chelsea for a place in the competition’s final ultimately ended in a 1-0 defeat.
Ampadu, though, says there is still plenty left to achieve this season as attention now turns back to the club’s bid to secure their top-flight status in which there are just four games left.
Reflecting on not giving the club’s supporters a day to celebrate at Wembley, the skipper says Leeds now have to ensure the season ends with Premier League survival - the captain confident his team will achieve that objective over the final four games if recent performances are repeated.
Daniel Farke’s side will resume their bid to beat the drop with Friday night’s visit of already-relegated Burnley - ahead of which Leeds sit 15th and six points clear of the relegation zone.
"We have to now - we didn't give the fans a day to celebrate”
Speaking to LUTV, Ampadu was asked if there was still a lot to achieve this season and declared: "Of course. Our aim was to go as far as we can in the FA Cup, take it round by round.
"Once you are here you want to get into the final. We didn't do that but we have got the Premier League and we want to survive and we have got full confidence that if we play like we have been in the last few weeks that we can achieve that.
"We have to now - we didn't give the fans a day to celebrate today so I think we should all get behind each other as we will and then push for these last four."
