"We can tell" - Leeds United star delivers 'quality' verdict and team hope on new Whites arrival

A Leeds United star has delivered an exciting and quality verdict on a new Whites signing.

Whites ace Gabi Gudmundsson has quickly delivered a glowing verdict of new Leeds United arrival Facundo Buonanotte with a team hope and personal quip.

Argentinian attacker Buonanotte looked set to join Leeds in the summer before Chelsea loaned the attacker from Brighton but the 21-year-old has now sealed a January switch to Leeds on loan from the Seagulls until the end of the season.

Leeds signed Buonanotte shortly before last weekend’s hosting of Fulham for which the Argentinian made the bench and was an unused substitute.

The Brighton loanee has since had a full week of training with his new side - and Gudmundsson has quickly been impressed with what he has seen.

Left back Gudmundsson says Buonanotte’s quality on the ball was “directly” obvious as he outlined his hope that his attributes can now help Leeds in their quest to survive their first season back in the Premier League.

Gudmundsson, though, exactly the sort of player that Buonanotte would come up against in training, vowed that he would not be letting the flashy new boy nutmeg him at Thorp Arch.

"We can tell that directly”

Gudmundsson also highlighted how the arrival of Argentina-capped Buonanotte had been particularly beneficial for the club’s Brazilian goalkeeper Lucas Perri as a second South American now within the Whites squad.

Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds, Gudmundsson was asked about Buonanotte and said: “A quality player with the ball.

"We can tell that directly, really good with the ball, so hopefully we will see a lot of qualities from him in our games that we can add."

Asked if he had fitted in well, Gudmundsson declared: “For sure, he's the second South American guy in here.

"It's nice for Lucas (Perri) as well to have someone else from the same area. But he's a quality player that we just welcome to add to our team."

Pressed, though, on whether he had been trying to nutmeg him in training. Gudmundsson quipped: "I will not let him nutmeg me, I can tell you that!"
