Leeds United fan bundled away from Daniel Farke's dugout during Aston Villa loss amid angry chants

Leeds United lost 2-1 at home to Aston Villa on Sunday and remain in the Premier League relegation zone.

A Leeds United fan attempted to approach Daniel Farke's technical area and had to be bundled away by security staff during the 2-1 defeat by Aston Villa.

Leeds were locked at 1-1 with their visitors in the Elland Road clash when fan frustration led to chants for Farke to make substitutions. Supporters in the South Stand chanted for Daniel James and Willy Gnonto before demanding the German 'make a sub.'

Shortly after those chants a home fan, wearing a yellow, white and blue scarf, slowly made his way out of the West Stand and through the Aston Villa technical area towards where Farke and his staff were sitting in the dugout. The supporter made it within a few yards of Farke before stewards and first team security chief Martin Sykes intervened to bundle him back into the stand and out of the stadium bowl.

Leeds went on to lose the game 2-1 as Morgan Rogers scored with a direct free-kick. The home side did get the ball in the net for an equaliser but it was ruled out by VAR due to a handball by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

In 2023 a pitch invader who shoved Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe during an Elland Road match was jailed for three months, having admitted entering the playing area without excuse and assaulting Howe. David Derbyshire, 35, from Leeds, was also banned from all matches for at least six years.
