Leeds United loanee helps side seal play-offs place on final day as possible new opponents for Whites decided

A Leeds United attacker has helped his side seal a play-offs place.

Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt has helped Hull City seal a Championship play-off place with the division’s final day deciding possible new opponents for the Whites.

Gelhardt is on a season-long at the Tigers who faced a final day home clash against Norwich City for which Gelhardt was handed another start.

Norwich went ahead in the 26th minute through Mohamed Toure but Oli McBurnie equalised with a penalty just two minutes later and the same player bagged what proved the game’s winning goal in the 67th minute.

With Wrexham drawing 2-2 at home to Middlesbrough, victory for Hull sealed a sixth-placed finish and the division’s final play-offs place with a semi-final against Millwall in store for the Tigers.

Southampton and Middlesbrough will face off in the other semi-final as Ipswich Town sealed the division’s second automatic promotion place with a final day 3-0 win at home to QPR.

It means that already promoted Championship champions Coventry City, Ipswich and then one of Millwall, Boro, Southampton or Hull will provide the new opponents for Leeds next season should the club seal the deal of Premier League survival.
