"Outstanding" - Daniel Farke on Leeds United new signings, more business expectation and country's best belief

Daniel Farke on Leeds United’s new signings with a more business belief.

Daniel Farke has saluted Leeds United’s three big summer signings with the expectation of more to come and a country’s best belief.

Harry Wilson, Tarik Muharemovic and James Trafford have all been brought to the club this summer, Wales international attacker Wilson the first to arrive on a free transfer having left Fulham upon his contract expiring.

Leeds then spent £34.1m to sign Bosnia and Herzegovina international centre-back Muharemovic from Sassuolo, the 23-year-old becoming the second most expensive signing in United’s history.

But a new record signing followed three weeks later, the Whites signing England capped goalkeeper Trafford from Manchester City for a club record £40m plus add-ons.

Wilson and Muharemovic both made their Elland Road debuts in Saturday’s pre-season friendly against RB Leipzig and Trafford could now make his Leeds debut in tonight’s penultimate pre-season friendly against bitter rivals Manchester United at Croke Park in Dublin.

Trafford signed for Leeds on Thursday evening but the keeper had a late return to pre-season training having been part of the England squad at the World Cup.

Trafford and Muharemovic are both 23 years old and Farke has said that both will be given time to settle in to their new roles.

Farke, though, who also saluted the arrival of Wilson, believes Muharemovic has all the attributes to become a very important player for Leeds United who now have a keeper with “outstanding” potential in Trafford.

Trafford looked set to be Manchester City’s new no 1 upon joining City from Burnley last summer but the club then signed Gianluigi Donnarumma and Trafford ultimately made only four Premier League starts.

Trafford, though, was City’s cup keeper in an FA Cup and Carabao Cup double and Farke is convinced that the club’s new record signing has the potential to be England’s mid and long term new no 1.

Giving his view on United’s three big signings so far this summer, Farke also said he was convinced that United’s business wasn’t done yet.

“Still on the way a bit to adapt to our game”

"I'm delighted with all of them,” said Farke to the YEP of Wilson, Muharemovic and Trafford.

"Of course we wanted to strengthen our offence a bit.

"With Harry Wilson, I think we have got a very experienced player who has played a remarkable last season at Fulham.

"He has proved what he can do if he is in a finishing position or in a position to play the final pass so I am quite happy with him.

"Of course he has played slightly different for Fulham and he is still on the way a bit to adapt to our game but I am happy with him of course to arrive.

"With Tarik it was important right now that we replaced a quality player in Pascal Struijk, probably our most consistent defender in the last season. Our vice captain who we won plenty of Premier League games with.

"We decided to bring in a young player full of potential who if we are honest as just played one year on a really good level in Italy but also not for the biggest side in Italy, for a mid table team.

“Convinced also of his mid and long term potential to be England's new no 1”

"We are fully convinced of his potential and I think he showed many glimpses of that in these pre season games but he is also a young lad and we will give him time to adapt to English football.

"But we think in the mid to the long term he will be a very important player for Leeds United and the same also on the goalkeeper position with James Trafford.

"I made no secret that I wanted on this position a top class player and right now we have got one.

"We are convinced of James but also there especially for a goalkeeper he is a very young goalkeeper so he comes out of a season where he has not played that much at least not on league level.

"It was a bit difficult because he was of course long involved with the World Cup and he has just over two weeks of pre season with us to get ready so we will give him the time to settle in but also we are convinced of his potential to be an outstanding goalkeeper for us.

"We are convinced also of his mid and long term potential to be England's new no 1 and for that we are very happy and delighted with his transfer but again they are two players who are still young, who we will give the necessary time but on the other hand we want them to deliver as quick as possible.

"We are on a good path but I am also convinced that our business is not done yet."
