"In the Championship" - Joe Rodon fires Leeds United warning with fans admission and Norwich City match must

Joe Rodon has fired a Leeds United warning ahead amid a break from the club’s quest for Premier League survival.

Joe Rodon has fired a Leeds United warning ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup fifth round visit of Championship side Norwich City with a fans admission but team must.

Daniel Farke’s Whites will take another break from the club’s quest for Premier League survival with Sunday’s visit of a Norwich side who are plying their trade in the division Leeds are fighting to avoid the drop in to.

Rodon, though, who admits United’s fans will be dreaming of Wembley, has warned that Norwich will prove difficult opponents based on the former Swansea City star’s knowledge of just what the Canaries are facing on a regular basis in the second tier of English football.

Victory on Sunday would put Leeds one game away from Wembley with the FA Cup semi-finals staged at the home of English football but Rodon says his team must only focus solely on Sunday’s challenging visit of the Canaries.

Speaking to Premier League Publications and as quoted by Leeds United’s official website, Rodon reasoned: “I think all the fans, they are going to dream of Wembley, but I think as players we have to just concentrate and take each game as it comes.

“There is a game every three days in the Championship so it is always on TV! I will always have a look.

“For me personally I know how difficult it is”

“For me personally I know how difficult it is to get out of that league, so yeah, it will be a very difficult game, a challenging one and one that we will give everything and concentrate on.”

Rodon’s side were taken all the way to penalties in their fourth round clash at another Championship side in Birmingham City, Leeds proving perfect with their spot kicks as Joel Piroe, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Brenden Aaronson and Sean Longstaff all converted from 12 yards as the Blues missed two of theirs against Lucas Perri.

Rodon wasn’t called for - but the big defender says he would be more than ready to step up to the plate if required.

“To be fair, after the first five I didn't know who was going next!” said Rodon of the shootout at St Andrew’s.

“We were really confident in our penalty takers and of course Lucas in goal as well, you know he’s a very big presence.

“I think we just planned for it not to go beyond five and luckily that did happen. It was a brilliant penalty shootout from the boys.

“We know our responsibility as players and that opportunity could arise, so you have to be confident and yeah, if I have to step up and take one then of course I will.”
