Major update on Leeds United transfer target Jorgen Strand Larsen as rivals make move for huge price tag
A major update has been delivered on Leeds United transfer target Jorgen Strand Larsen.
Leeds United transfer target Jorgen Strand Larsen is reportedly close to sealing a £50m switch to fellow Premier League rivals from Wolves.
Leeds had been keen to add Strand Larsen to their ranks to boost their attacking options in the club’s quest for survival and the Whites saw a bid rejected.
Leeds remained at the negotiating table and keen on a deal but not at the expense of going above and beyond what they deemed a sensible valuation due to club’s Profitability and Sustainability position.
A number of other club’s have been keen on Strand Larsen, notably Crystal Palace amid doubts over the future of Eagles striker Jean-Philippe Mateta who is wanted by Nottingham Forest who have placed a £35m bid.
Strand Larsen is considered a prime candidate to replace Mateta and it now appears that the striker is on his way to Selhurst Park in a deal worth £50m.
“Leeds United bids reached £40m”
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday morning that Crystal Palace had “improved their proposal to sign” the striker who had already been the subject of a rejected bid from Leeds.
Romano added that “talks were underway with the player’s camp to seal the deal.”
Posting a couple of hours later, David Ornstein of The Athletic revealed that Palace and Wolves were now “close to agreement” with a fee of “£45m + £5m fee being discussed”
Ornstein wrote “Crystal Palace close to agreement for Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen. Talks between #CPFC & Jorge Mendes on behalf of #WWFC advanced; £45m + £5m fee being discussed. Leeds United bids reached £40m but #LUFC not currently going higher @TheAthleticFC”
Romano added that deal was “almost done” for a £50m package with add-ons included.
