Leeds United's Largie Ramazani makes huge Valencia impact but Jack Harrison Fiorentina disappointment
Largie Ramazani enjoyed an afternoon to remember as the star act among Leeds United’s loanees.
Largie Ramazani proved Valencia’s hero as one of five senior loaned out Leeds United players in action on Saturday afternoon which also featured a Jack Harrison Fiorentina debut.
Belgian winger Ramazani has had to be content with outings from the bench for Valencia of late and the 24-year-old was again named amongst the substitutes for Saturday’s La Liga hosting of Espanyol.
With the contest level at 2-2, boss Carlos Corberan finally brought Ramazani on as part of a final triple substitution with two minutes left and the Leeds loanee’s dart into the box and blocked shot led to his side being awarded a penalty in the second minute of stoppage time.
Still seeking his first goal for the club, Ramazani stepped up to take the spot kick himself and coolly sent keeper Marko Dmitrovic the wrong way to seal a dramatic 3-2 victory.
Elsewhere, another loaned out Whites winger in Harrison experienced disappointment on his debut for Fiorentina whom the 29-year-old joined on loan for the rest of the season last week.
Defeat leaves loanee’s team third-bottom
Harrison was named on the bench for the Serie A hosting of Cagliari and eventually brought on in the 59th minute with his side 2-0 down.
Fiorentina pulled a goal back through Marco Brescianini in the 74th minute but there was no further response as Cagliari left with a 2-1 victory that leaves I Viola third bottom.
Back in La Liga, Mateo Joseph’s Mallorca side are in action on Sunday afternoon with a home clash against Atletico Madrid in a 1pm kick-off.
In domestic action, Joe Gelhardt bagged his first start since returning from injury for Hull City who stayed fourth in the Championship with a 2-1 win at home to Swansea City.
In League One, Harry Gray was handed his second start for Rotherham United who shared a 1-1 draw with visiting AFC Wimbledon.
