Leeds United latest news: Ao Tanaka updates from Japan clash as Ethan Ampadu speaks out on Wales form
The latest Leeds United news throughout the day as four Whites stars prepare for international action tonight.
Four Leeds United players could be in action later today as the third round of international fixtures get underway.
Leeds are closing in on two weeks without a matchday and have more than a week to go before they head to Arsenal on October 10. The combined international break means some nations still have another two matches to play before players can return to their clubs.
Wednesday night was a rare night with no international football but it returns tonight, with the potential for some decent Leeds involvement. Most of that could come in Cardiff, where Wales host Erling Haaland’s Norway in the Nations League.

Ethan Ampadu is likely to start in midfield and on Wednesday night opened up about his nation’s poor form. Wales have lost both games this break without scoring and are yet to win from six matches in 2026.
Daniel James could also feature as head coach Craig Bellamy hopes a home fixture can arrest their poor run. Jayden Lienou remains hopeful of a first-team debut but it feels unlikely, given the need for experience against a strong and powerful Norway side.
Elsewhere, Ao Tanaka could be in action later this morning with Japan hosting Ecuador in Yokohama at 11.10am UK time. The Leeds midfielder has twice come off the bench so far to enjoy two late wins over Uruguay and Ecuador, with today his final game of the break.
We’ll keep you posted on that Japan clash later this morning and bring build-up to Wales vs Norway. Alongside that, if there is any Leeds news we’ll be sure to keep you posted below.
