Northern Ireland youth international centre-back Matykiewicz penned terms on a two-year contract as he signed his first professional Leeds deal earlier this summer.
The 19-year-old’s game time for United’s under-21s so far this season has been limited and the defender has now joined Northern Premier League side Ilkeston Town on a short-term youth loan.
A Leeds United statement read: “Leeds United can confirm Academy defender Luke Matykiewicz has joined Ilkeston Town on a short-term youth loan.
“The centre-half signed a first professional contract with the club in the summer and now heads to the Northern Premier League side in search of senior game time.
“The Northern Irish youth international has featured in both the EFL Trophy and National League Cup so far this season for Scott Gardner’s Under-21s team.
“Everyone at Leeds United would like to wish Luke well during his time with the Robins and we will be monitoring his progress closely.”
A statement from Ilkeston Town read: “We are delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Luke Matykiewicz on a 28-day loan from Premier League side Leeds United. Welcome to the Robins, Luke!”
