Huge potential Leeds United boost as Ruben Amorim delivers Man United team news with Bruno Fernandes update
The Manchester United team news for Sunday’s clash against Leeds United at Elland Road.
Boss Ruben Amorim has delivered his Manchester United team news for Sunday’s Premier League showdown against Leeds United at Elland Road with stars out and a Bruno Fernandes update.
Amorim’s side were dealt a hammer blow in the 2-1 defeat at Aston Villa four days before Christmas in which talisman captain Fernandes was forced off with a hamstring injury.
Fernandes has consequently missed United’s last two games against Newcastle United and Wolves and Amorim does not think that the midfielder will be back for Sunday’s lunchtime showdown against Leeds at LS11.
England-capped midfielder Mason Mount also missed the 1-1 draw against Wolves having felt an injury in Boxing Day’s 1-0 win at home to Newcastle whilst Kobbie Mainoo (calf), Matthijs de Ligt (back) and Harry Maguire (hamstring) have also all been out of late.
“I don’t think so...but we’ll see.”
Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Amorim said late checks would be taken on his injured players but the Red Devils boss is not expecting any of them to recover in time to face Leeds.
Amad, Bryan Mbeumo and Noussair Mazraoui also remain in action at the Africa Cup of Nations, meaning that Amorim’s side have eight players out.
Amorim said: “We are going [with] no [fresh] issues, no different issues. We’re going to see tomorrow, we have one more training. I don’t think so, that anyone is going to recover, but we'll see.”
