"I've heard" - Former Leeds United ace salutes "class" key Whites figure with admission and hope

A former Leeds United star has saluted a “class” key Whites figure.

Ex-Leeds United ace Matt Kilgallon has saluted the “class” work of Whites boss Daniel Farke with an admission and hope.

Eighteen years have passed since centre-back Kilgallon ended his time with boyhood club Leeds with the move to Sheffield United having made 95 appearances for the Whites.

Nearly two decades on, Kilgallon regularly presides over Leeds games as a pundit and the 41-year-old has been mightily impressed with the work of boss Farke at the helm.

The former defender says he has often heard good things about the German and his knowledge of the game and readily admits he would have relished playing for him.

Leeds go into Sunday’s clash at another of Kilgallon’s former clubs Sunderland sat six points clear of the Premier League dropzone and the ex-Whites defender hopes the good times continue under the German boss.

“I think he's been class at Leeds. It's not easy”

Speaking to the YEP via slots that use real money, Kilgallon was asked what he had made to Farke’s work at Leeds and if he would have liked to have played for him.

“Do you know what? I'd have loved to,” he said.

“I like the way how he comes across. I think he comes across really well in interviews. He's very calm. I think he gets his point across in a good way.

“I've heard he's very knowledgeable and knows what he wants. If you don't want to do it, you're not involved. I quite like that. I like to know where you stand.

“Give me what you want me to do and I'll do it. If I don't do it, then you'll go, You're not for me then. I like that with a manager. Do you know what I mean? I think he's been class at Leeds. It's not easy.

“He gets teams up, doesn't he, from the Championship and then into Premier League, and they're expected to do it again without really spending any money.

“I think he's done great. He's doing well at the minute and hope it continues.”

“Just everything was just really good memories”

Reflecting on his own time with the Whites, Kilgallon beamed: Just fantastic. Absolutely loved it.

“I’m so honoured to have played for the club, for starters. But also just my journey of being there as a young lad, going through the academy YTS and training on Tuesdays and Thursday nights and sometimes watching all the cars coming in the first team thinking, I hope that's me one day in it. I did.

“I got into the first team and played for Leeds United. It was absolutely amazing. I loved my YTS there. I loved playing the reserves. Just everything was just really good memories. Really good memories.”
