The greatest Olympic gold medallist of all time was present as a Leeds United investor to see the Whites beat Liverpool 4-2 in Chicago.
Daniel Farke’s Whites concluded their pre-season tour of America with Sunday night’s victory against Liverpool at Soldier Field, the club under American ownership through 49ers Enterprises having taken in three friendlies in the USA.
Leeds began their pre-season games in America with a 3-2 defeat to Wrexham in Tampa before recording a 1-0 victory against Sunderland in New Jersey.
But the Whites saved their best until last with Sunday’s brilliant comeback win against Liverpool for which record-holding Olympic gold medallist Michael Phelps was present as a minority Whites shareholder.
It was revealed back in 2023 that eight athletes had invested in the Whites including legendary swimmer Phelps who won a staggering 23 gold medals during his career - more than any other athlete ever.
Now 41 years old, he is widely considered the best Olympian of all time.
Some fans were able to get photos of Phelps who was then treated to an amazing comeback by Leeds that even the swimming great himself would probably have been proud of.
